Beethoven op10no1 - trouble areas November 24, 2008, 06:56:54 PM by feddera

I now have all three movements memorized, and I am now entering the "polishing-phase". The first movement was fairly straightforward, and technically I have it pretty much under control. The second and third movements however, have a couple of tough spots I can't seem to get comfortable under my fingers. The following measures drives me insane:
Measure 28, 30, 75 and 77 of the second movement. It just feels awkward, tense and "rushed" when I try to play those 64th notes in tempo. Hard to explain, but the passages just won't "flow" properly.
Measure 12-15 and 69-72 of the third movement. Same as the above. I can reach the desired speed, but not comfortably. It just sounds too chopped up.
Measure 34-35 and 91-92 of the third movement. The polyrythm just won't get right. I am currently just playing the left hand alone with a metronome, then the right hand alone with the metronome, and then both hands together. It kinda works, but I still don't feel in perfect control.
Any practice tips on these areas would help me a lot. And yes I have a teacher, yes I will ask him, but he's away for two weeks and I want to get this right asap.

beethoven sonata opus 10#1 September 16, 2007, 01:12:23 AM by omgtifb

Here's a recital recording, sort of rough ... not up to the standards of most stuff posted here. I can't seem to hone my tone control esp in my left hand. I only practice on a digital... I wonder if that is part of the problem.

Beethoven Sonata No. 5 in C minor, Op. 10 , No. 1- Mvmt. I December 18, 2006, 04:03:55 AM by ryan2189

Hello
This was my first recording session. I performed this piece as well as Ginastera's second Danza Argentina and Bach's P&F in D minor, Bk. II. I think I will upload those soon too. There are some flubs, but I was using this recording to prove my ability to the various colleges that I am applying to. As always, I would love to hear any comments or suggestions. I am performing this piece again in a recital in January.

Beethoven Sonata op.10 No.1 (Help needed!) July 31, 2006, 03:09:52 PM by xamy

I need practice methods for the following:
2nd mouvement:
bars 17, 19 and 21: How fast are these "small" notes ment to go? Also does anyone have any good fingering? At the moment I am doing 3 2 1 4 3 2 1 2 in bar 17 and the same in bar 19.
bars 28-30 and 75-77 In these two (similar) passages I struggle both with the timing and hitting the notes cleanly and accurately. At the moment all I am doing is practicing slowly and it is slowly improving, but I still think it will take a very long time. Are there any special ways to approach these tricky bits?
3rd mouvement:
bars 12-15: Struggling to get this bit up to speed while retaining the clarity of the notes. I noticed that as soon as I go to fast, notes start overlapping.
bars 34 and 35: the cross rythms! Tremolando (4 notes) in the right against tripplets in the left hand. Just can't get it right and don't really no how to approach it systematically. At the moment im just playing though hoping it will miraculously come together!
If anyone could give me a few hints I would be most grateful!
Thanks!
Oh and if anyone is looking for a new piece, this sonata is pretty good, the 2nd movement is amazing!
